What this publication is:
Monthly news to keep you in the loop… from the West  Midlands
This is the November 2008 edition of West Midlands Regional Development e-Bulletin, the monthly email bulletin for all Making Music members. Its purpose is for me, your Regional Development Officer to inform you about things that just can't wait until Network comes out.

How to Use This e-Bulletin
Click the links to read the parts that interest you most!

I asked for feedback on this e-Bulletin and really appreciate having some honest comments. A few people said they felt it was too long. When I asked how they were reading the bulletin, I learned that they were simply 'scrolling down' the page and reading until they found something interesting.

If you want to skip through stuff, here's a tip. Simply look at the contents list at the top right  (Concert Diary, Funding, etc.) and click on what interests you. For example, if you want information on funding, just click on 'funding' and it will skip down to that section.

I will not be offended if you don't read every word!  It's your resource to use as you see fit!

If you have more feedback, please click here to email me your comments.

Are you paying your director the right rate?  Check out some guidance at the Incorporated Society of Musicians website.

The Cabinet Office for the Third Sector has published a guidance paper on the need or circumstances where it might be necessary to carry out CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks on volunteers.
Visit their website.

The Cabinet Office for the Third Sector has announced changes from April 2009 which may mean that many smaller charities will not have to submit annual accounts in future.

For more information visit their website.

On 27 September, a Cultural Olympiad Launch occurred in Birmingham, featuring  Soweto Kinch, 100 young dancers, Orchestra of the Swan, Black Voices, 2fAcEd DaNcE, Motionhouse Dance, and Bombay Baja Brass Band. In a week, I'll be going to a Worcester-based meeting and I hope to report back to you on how we can work together to get the most out of the Olympics and how it can benefit the Arts.
