The Midlands Fretted Orchestra, established in 2001 by the renowned classical banjoist Danielle Saxon-Reeves (seen on the left of the picture), brings together interesting and exciting instruments not normally found in today's orchestras. Through a combination of mandolins, guitars and banjos, the ensemble normally consists of over 25 musicians and draws its music from folk, blues, classical, jazz, populist, world and modern influences. Very recently MFO scooped top prize for musicianship in a national competition. The performers at the ARM were: Richard Wooley, Chris Mikolajczyk, Fred Mallinson, Colin Brindley, Conrad Taylor, Richard Sheering, Richard Breeze, Robert Tong, Therese Ingleby, Jean Edmunds, Elwyn Griffiths and Danielle Saxon-Reeves.
